Linkly AI 1.2: you decide which files get indexed

·Linkly AI·

Your folders contain more than the things you want AI to read: thousands of screenshots, gigabytes of screen recordings, dependency packages, and personal material you don’t want an agent to see. Linkly AI 1.2 lets you filter by file type and use exclusion rules to skip specific files and subfolders.

This release also updates the official model lineup and adds automatic redaction for more than 200 types of sensitive information in remote MCP responses.

1. Control indexing with file types and exclusion rules

Under Indexing → Rules, you have two ways to control what gets indexed:

  • File type switches: turn off individual categories, including PDF, Word, Markdown and plain text, web pages, ebooks, spreadsheets, presentations, images, audio, and video. Disabled categories are no longer scanned, and matching items already indexed are removed from the index. If you only want AI to read documents, for example, turning off Images avoids spending time recognizing text in screenshots.
  • Exclusion rules: use wildcard patterns such as node_modules/, *.log, or 私人/ (a folder named “Private” in Chinese). Apply a rule to all folders or just one. You don’t have to write the pattern yourself: right-click a file or folder in Library and select Add Exclusion Rule.

Before you save a rule, the app shows how many files it will exclude and which ones they are. Exclusions affect the index only. They do not change files on disk. Removal of matching items from the index starts about one minute after you save the rule.

2. An updated official model lineup

This release adds the following models:

  • For all users: DeepSeek V4.1 Flash, Qwen3.8 27B, and GPT-6 Luna.
  • For Pro users: Claude Sonnet 5.5, Claude Haiku 5.5, GPT-6.1 Sol, and Gemini 4 Argon. DeepSeek V4 Pro is updated to version 0813.

Before adding an official model, we test it with real libraries on tasks such as search, reading, and citations, and compare providers individually. Starting with this release, official models use only providers with zero data retention, with DeepSeek as the exception, to improve data security.

3. Remote MCP redacts more than 200 types of sensitive information

When a cloud agent reads your library through remote MCP, Linkly AI replaces detected sensitive information with a [REDACTED:type] marker to reduce the risk of accidental disclosure.

The recognized categories include:

  • API keys and tokens for more than 160 services, including OpenAI, Anthropic, AWS, and GitHub.
  • Private keys, JWTs, and passwords embedded in connection URLs.
  • Common password strings in notes, such as “密码:xxx” (“password: xxx”) and PASSWORD=xxx.
  • Bank card numbers, with only the last four digits retained, plus common identity document numbers such as national IDs, passports, and travel permits.
  • Two-step verification recovery codes and mnemonic recovery phrases.

This reduces the risk of credential exposure, but it is not foolproof. Use exclusion rules to keep particularly sensitive secrets and personal data out of the index.

4. Other improvements

  • View original content in the app: switch document previews between the parsed view and the original to see PDF pages, images, audio, and video directly.
  • Double-click to open files: double-click a file in Library to open it in the system’s default app.
  • Keep images from scanned PDFs: images and charts in scanned PDFs are cropped, saved, and linked from the parsed text.

New features

  • File type switches let you enable or disable specific categories.
  • Exclusion rules support wildcard patterns for files and subfolders.
  • Document previews can switch between the parsed view and the original, including PDF pages, images, audio, and video inside the app.
  • Double-click files in Library to open them in the system’s default app.
  • Images in scanned PDFs are recognized, cropped, and saved.
  • Official models add DeepSeek V4.1 Flash, Qwen3.8 27B, GPT-6 Luna, GPT-6.1 Sol, Gemini 4 Argon, Claude Sonnet 5.5, and Claude Haiku 5.5.
  • [Web] The Integrations page lists authorized apps and lets you revoke access at any time.
  • [Web] The pricing page includes a full Free and Pro feature comparison.
  • [MCP] Before remote MCP returns content, it redacts detected API keys, passwords, secrets, identity document numbers, and other sensitive information across more than 200 categories to reduce exposure.

Improvements

  • With DeepSeek as the exception, official Linkly AI models use selected providers with zero data retention. Every included model is tested against many use cases.
  • App data can be moved into directories under Program Files. Messages shown when selecting system directories are clearer.
  • Credit balance queries, cloud library lists, and similar requests no longer fail with timeouts on slow or proxied connections.
  • [Web] First-time sign-in requires a display name and username.
  • [Web] System emails support six languages, with unsubscribe options by category.

Bug fixes

  • Skills installed through the app are also linked to ~/.claude/skills, fixing Claude Code being unable to read them.
  • Fixed garbled text or extra control characters after parsing the text layer of some PDFs.
  • Fixed MCP clients hanging when connecting to port 60606 after Windows app restarts triggered by changes such as moving app data.
  • Fixed the embedding model staying on the CPU after an unexpected app exit, while the hardware acceleration switch still appeared enabled.
  • Fixed OCR staying in “Processing” for some users while Settings still prompted them to download the OCR model.
  • Fixed occasional freezes while moving cache or app data.
  • Fixed blank chat, search, and notes pages on Linux, and crashes on some graphics cards.
  • Fixed the built-in chatbot not recognizing citations written in forms such as [cite_key: 3].
  • Fixed long model IDs overflowing the AI provider dialog.
